5 Tips Agar Baterai BlackBerry Storm 2 Irit

VIVAnews – Jika hasil ujicoba beberapa lab belakangan ini mengatakan bahwa kemampuan baterai BlackBerry Storm2 tak lebih baik dari pada Bold 9700 atau Onyx, hal itu tak berlaku di lab BlackBerry Cool.

Dilansir VIVAnews dari BlackBerry Cool, 10 Desember 2009, Storm2 mampu bertahan 14 jam dengan beban kerja yang berat, yakni membiarkan Wi-fi dan kamera menyala, frekuensi telepon normal, streaming musik, membuka aplikasi Maps, dan menjalankan 3G seharian.

Namun demikian, bagaimana pun, ponsel pintar memang memakan energi relatif lebih besar ketimbang ponsel biasa. Untuk itu BlackBerry Cool menyuguhkan sejumlah tips untuk memperpanjang umur baterai Storm2 Anda, jika Anda enggan membeli baterai cadangan.

Mengelola koneksi Anda
Matikanlah 3G jika Anda tidak sedang menggunakan layanan data. Jika tak terlalu penting, Anda bisa memilih layanan selevel di bawahnya (2G). Anda bisa mengubahnya melalui opsi Manage Connections pada Home Screen. Pastikan Anda juga telah mematikan Bluetooth dan Wi-fi.

“Istirahatkan” selama Anda istirahat
Anda bisa menghemat usia baterainya jika Anda matikan sebelum Anda tidur. Pastikan ia menyala sebelum Anda bangun dari tidur, jadi tidak membuang waktu Anda sebelum pergi beraktivitas. Anda bisa mengaturnya melalui opsi Auto On/Off dari menu Options di Home Screen.

Tetap gunakan holster dan sesuaikan setting profil
Untuk menentukan notifikasi suara dan getaran, Anda diberikan opsi In Holster, Out Holster, dan Always pada BlackBerry Anda. Anda akan menghemat lebih banyak baterai seumpama Anda lebih sering menggunakan notifikasi suara (In Holster) ketimbang getaran (Out Holster), karena getaran memakan daya lebih banyak ketimbang suara.

Kurangi tingkat Brightness
Sama seperti BlackBerry pada umumnya, Anda bisa memperpanjang usia baterai jika tingkat Brightness BlackBerry Anda dikurangi secukupnya.

Tutup aplikasi yang tidak digunakan
Perlu disadari, aplikasi yang berjalan di belakang layar dan belum ditutup akan menguras cadangan baterai Anda dengan cepat, terlebih lagi jika mereka sering melakukan refresh. Sebut saja aplikasi Uber Twitter atau Google Maps. Karena, update secara otomatis pada kedua aplikasi ini tentu akan merefresh koneksi data Anda.

Tehnologi Mifi di Blackberry Storm 2

Menurut Verizon, Blackberry storm 2 akan dilengkapi dengan tehnologi Mifi, yaitu mobile access point untuk memperkuat signal 3G dan dapat membagi internet ke lima pengguna Blackberry yang berdekatan.

Mifi ini mirip dengan router 3G Wifi, yang membedakannya adalah karena tertanam dalam Storm 2 sehingga bisa dibawa kemana saja, sekaligus sebagai penguat signal 3G.

Hingga saat ini pihak Research in Motion (RIM) , masih belum memberikan penggumuman resmi mengenai tehnologi Mifi. Kita tunggu saja dalam beberapa waktu ke depan, apakah memang benar MiFi akan ditanamkan ke dalam semua blackberry storm 2, atau hanya digunakan pada produk-produk Blackberry verizon saja

BlackBerry Storm2 is official, at last

Enough with the spy shots. RIM's Web site has finally listed official photos and specs for its follow-up to the original touchscreen Storm, and the Wall Street Journal even has a brief review posted. Still no word on when Verizon will launch the Storm2, though, nor do we have a price tag yet.

You can find RIM's Web page for the new, 5.64-ounce Storm2 (a bit heavier than the first Storm) right here, and as you can see, it looks very similar to its predecessor, save for some sleeker curves and edges. The touchscreen is also the same size—about 3.25 inches diagonally—and the BlackBerry interface looks more or less the same.

But looks can be deceiving, and as the rumors predicted, RIM has changed its touchscreen strategy for the 3G-enabled Storm2. Gone is the "ClickThrough" screen that you could actually, physically click; in its place is "next-gen SurePress technology," which WSJ reviewer Walt Mossberg describes as electronic "tactile feedback"—or, in other words, the phone vibrates to simulate the feeling of a keypress. Mossberg says the new system makes for "faster, smoother typing," which would make for a nice change from the sticky feeling of the first Storm's clickable screen.


Other major changes include Wi-Fi (the lack of which was a major criticism of Storm No. 1), along with a full, virtual QWERTY keypad when you're holding the phone in portrait position, as opposed to the touchscreen "SureType" keyboard (with multiple letters on the same key, à la the BlackBerry Pearl).

But while some things have changed, others have stayed the same. The BlackBerry OS is essentially the same as on the existing Storm (or on other current BlackBerrys, for that matter), and you get the same Web browser (which is "still inferior to Apple's, Google's, and Palm's," Mossberg writes) and a 3.2MP camera, the same resolution as before.

There's still no official word from Verizon on when the Storm2 will arrive in the U.S. (it's already available for pre-order from European carrier Vodafone), or for how much; that said, Mossberg is guessing November for about $200, with contract (which sounds about right). It's also not clear how much memory the Storm2 will ship with; Mossberg says it'll come with 2GB of onboard storage and a 16GB microSD card, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Anyway, I expect Verizon Wireless to fill in the blanks any minute now, so stay tuned.
